Sakhalin Energy Became One of the Leaders of Sustainable Development Indexes Compiled by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE)

Sakhalin Energy is among the leaders of Sustainable Development Index compiled by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE).

The results of annual set of indexes were presented at the joint meeting of RUIE Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development and European Business Association which featured the theme “Transformation of corporate strategies and activities under the influence of the global sustainable development agenda”.

RUIE announced Sakhalin Energy as a leader in two indexes:  Responsibility and Transparency, and Sustainable Development Vector.  First one reflects the quality of information disclosure in key areas of activity. It implicates the analysis of 70 indicators focusing on responsible business practices including economic, environmental, social performance and governance aspects. Second index identifies the leaders among the largest companies demonstrating positive trend towards sustainable development. 

In the Responsibility and Transparency Index Sakhalin Energy was among thirty-four companies with top results. Thirty leading Russian companies (Gazprom, Lukoil, Novatec, RZhD, Rosatom) were presented in Sustainable Development Vector Index.

Alexander Shokhin, President of RUIE, congratulated the leaders on high performance in sustainable development, corporate responsibility and accountability. “We trust that the companies will continue moving forward on the path of information openness and transparency”, said Shokhin.   

RUIE indexes is a combination of instruments for independent assessment of the contribution of organisations in the sustainable development of society, which interprets the corporate responsibility and accountability data to the language of specific and comparable indicators. Companies use the results of RUIE indexes for advancing public reporting and improving their work in the area of sustainable development.  

RUIE compiles indexes since 2014, they are based on the analysis of companies’ public corporate reporting including annual non-financial reports. The analysis covers the reports of companies within the top 100 of the largest companies in the ratings of RAEX-600 and RBC-500.
