Sakhalin Energy Has Been Recognised the Best Socially Oriented Company for Developing the Labour and Personal Potential of Employees

Sakhalin Energy has been recognised the winner in the Development of the Labour and Personal Potential of Employees category of the competition for the best socially oriented oil and gas company in 2019, held by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. The awards ceremony took place at the IX St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

Since its inception, Sakhalin Energy has set great store by the development, training and advanced training of employees. The creation of career opportunities and the preservation of a competitive compensation and social package are but a few among the key areas for improving the development of employees’ labour and personal potential. The company is building a unique corporate culture using the best practices of its shareholders. In addition, shareholders and line managers of all levels are involved in resolving personnel issues, which makes it possible to practise a systematic approach to personnel management.

The use of effective employee training and development techniques helps Sakhalin Energy to “create” its own specialists, increase their efficiency, adapt them to rapidly changing working conditions, reduce staff turnover and operating costs. Every year, an employee opinion survey is conducted at Sakhalin Energy to measure, among other things, the level of employee involvement—one of the most important indicators of employees’ satisfaction with work in the company.

The victory in the Charitable Activities of an Organisation category is no less important. Today, Sakhalin Energy can rightfully be considered one of the largest philanthropists on Sakhalin—the company’s social programmes are an integral part of its production activities. Striving for long-term social changes in the host region, Sakhalin Energy implements projects in key relevant areas such as environmental protection and biodiversity conservation, safety, Sakhalin Indigenous Minorities development, education, culture and art, and healthcare. It must be pointed out that corporate volunteering is expanding the potential and range of the company’s charitable programmes. What is more, it brings together Sakhalin Energy employees, their family members and friends, so they also participate in important events.

Last but not least, Sakhalin Energy received a winner’s diploma and a special sign of the competition in two more categories: the Public Non-Financial Report of an Oil and Gas Company category and the Organisation of Medical Care at Production Facilities. Implementation of Measures to Develop Industrial Medicine category.
