The Company’s report is among the winners of the Vision Awards – an international competition held by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP), and has been recognised as the best report among the Russian participants.
Once again, Sakhalin Energy’s Sustainable Development Report was highly acclaimed by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP). The Company took seventh place worldwide and received the platinum award in the fuel and energy category. The Report also ranked fourth in the region (Europe, the Near and Middle East, Africa). This is the best result obtained by the Russian contestants.
Every year, the jury of the Vision Awards selects the best corporate annual reports. About 1,000 companies from more than 20 countries of the world took part in this year’s competition. Only five companies from Russia are among the top 100, including RusHydro, IDGC of South, Nornickel, and Aeroflot.
The companies’ reports were evaluated by experts against several criteria: first impression, cover, address to shareholders, content, financial data, creativity, clarity of ideas, and information accessibility. The Sakhalin Energy Sustainable Development Report gained 99 points out of 100. For more details on the results of the competition, go to the competition website.
Sakhalin Energy is one of the few Russian companies to have the Report prepared by its own employees. Contributions are made by members of virtually all functions of the Company, resulting in a better quality and greater depth of analysis. Sustainable development reporting is a tool that helps Sakhalin Energy present its non-financial activities (environmental, social and other programs/initiatives) in a more streamlined fashion and enhance the quality of corporate governance, improving the Company’s overall sustainability.
“The Sustainable Development Report is an effective tool for collaboration with stakeholders that the Company has been successfully using for many years,” says Natalia Gonchar, head of Information Support and Media Relations, “By all means, taking part in various competitions is conducive to work improvement. Year after year, new trends and practices emerge—we review them and take some on board.”
The League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) was founded in 2001 with the aim to create a community of PR professionals. It promotes the best achievements in this field and identifies the strongest players on the global market that demonstrate outstanding results in the field of communications.
