Sakhalin Energy among Winners of the 7th Best Social Projects of Russia Annual Programme and Forum

This year, the Organising Committee of the 7th Best Social Projects of Russia Annual Programme and Forum received roughly 250 applications from various Russian companies. Projects in the domain of social responsibility of business were awarded in 16 categories: from Environment to Education, from Endorsement of Sports to Material Support of Vulnerable Groups.

The Energy Social Initiative Fund of Sakhalin Energy received the national award in the Charity category. The Energy Fund works to support relevant projects of non-profit organisations that have the potential to bring in real change and result in long-term benefits. In 15 years since its foundation, the Fund has financed 613 projects in 64 settlements of Sakhalin Island, and helped more than 300 non-profits to put their ideas into action.

The winners of the Best Social Projects of Russia contest include such initiatives as Wings of Kindness, the joint project of Ural Airlines and Konstantin Khabensky Charitable Foundation, the Nornickel’s integrated project sponsoring the 29th Winter Universiade 2019, as well as Russian Ballet: Moments Captured, a photo exhibition in the open air organised by Vozrozhdenie bank, and others. Being in such a deserving company makes the success of our Sakhalin delegate—The Energy Social Initiative Fund—all the more satisfying.

The Energy Social Initiative Fund welcomes both newcomers and experienced organisations to take part in its competitions. It provides grants of three levels: local initiatives (participation is open to everyone), partnership projects (open contest for organisations that already have company-supported projects under their belts), and targeted projects, implemented in partnership with the company (participation through the company’s invitations). Submitted projects are evaluated by company employees, government officials, representatives of reputed non-profits, and external experts.

The Best Social Projects of Russia Annual Programme has been created to identify best practices and reward companies, funds and media outlets that make substantial contributions to encouraging and promoting the concept of socially responsible business. Official auditor of the Programme is BDO accounting agency. In addition to Russian experts, the Expert Council includes representatives of international companies, such as BVC, Cone Communications, CSR Europe, and BSR.
