Sakhalin's Practice Presented at International Human Rights Forum

The UN Forum on Business and Human Rights held in November 2018 in Geneva attracted over 2,000 participants representing national governments, business communities, public organisations, legal institutes, trade unions, UN organisations, etc.

Sakhalin Energy was invited by the sponsors of the UN Forum on Business and Human Rights to chair a session on the sidelines of the conference that discussed control over contractors and subcontractors for compliance with human rights standards. Compliance with human rights standards as part of the supply chain management is a key item on the international agenda covering a wide range of issues.

The session was very popular with the forum participants from business communities, international financial institutions and public organisations.

Sakhalin Energy has been a regular participant in the UN Forum. In previous years, the company presented its successful practices of supporting indigenous people of Sakhalin, as well as corporate grievance procedures and integrated approaches to human rights protection within the Sakhalin-2 project.
